About Marble Mountain

 

At Marble Mountain, we’re known for our challenging terrain, abundance of snow and short lift lines. Our vertical drop is the highest of any ski area in Atlantic Canada. Nearby Corner Brook is the snowiest city in Canada. And Newfoundlanders are known for being the friendliest people in the world.

 

Location

 

  • We’re located on the west coast on the island Newfoundland in eastern Canada.
  • Marble Mountain is part of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain Range, which stretches up from Georgia in the Southern United States.
  • The summit of Marble Mountain is 1,700 feet above the Humber River, which cuts a winding path through the majestic Humber Valley to the Bay of Islands on Newfoundland's west coast.
  • The closest city is Corner Brook, which is the service hub for Western Newfoundland and home to 21,000 people.
  • The nearest airport is in Deer Lake, which is just half-hour away on the Trans Canada Highway, a four-lane divided highway that is You can also fly into Stephenville, which is about one hour away

 

Weather

 

  • Marble Mountain Resort lies in a snow belt and gets an average snowfall of 16 feet a year.
  • Our first snow usually falls in late November and our snowiest months are December and January.
  • The base of Marble Mountain is 33 feet above sea level, which moderates our temperatures. The average winter daytime temperature is –5°C.

 

Terrain

 

  • Marble Mountain has 39 runs. Terrain includes a  terrain park, seven mogul runs and three glade runs.
  • There's something for people of all skiing and snowboarding abilities. Novice skiers enjoy the gentle slope of Country Road and experts love the exhilaration they feel when they reach the bottom of the OMJ.
  • All terrain is open to snowboarders.

 

Lift System

 

  • Learning to ski and snowboard at Marble Mountain just got easier! Our beginner's slope is now serviced top to bottom by Magic Carpet surface lifts.
  • Marble Mountain's Governor's Express is the only high-speed detachable quad lift in Atlantic Canada. It's one of four lifts that will carry you up the slopes.
  • The line-ups are usually short, which means you'll spend less time on the lifts and more time on the mountain.
