Season Extension & Lightning Express Update
March 06, 2015

While Mother Nature has been great to us as of late, she wasn’t so kind in December and January, nor back in August when the Governor’s Express chairlift got struck by lightning. We want to make the most of the stellar conditions and abundance of snow we have right now, so we’re extending our ski and snowboard season from our original closing date of Monday, April 6th to Sunday, April 12th.

Starting March 14th, we’ll also be extending our Saturday lift hours until 5:00pm for the rest of the season. We’re also looking forward to riding the Lightning Express for as long as possible! As long as weather and snow conditions cooperate, we’ll be skiing and riding until the end of the Easter break in 2015.

Work on modifying the sheave assemblies for the Lightning Express chairlift is going very well in Pasadena. Currently, we're on track to have the modifications finished by tomorrow (Saturday, March 7), and it's looking like there's a window in the weather forecast on Sunday to fly the parts back onto the towers. Once those parts are back on, the haul cable will be lowered onto them, then final electrical work will be completed. The lift will need to be retested and inspected, and then we'll be able to ride it. We hope to have an anticipated completion date in the next few days, so stay tuned here and to our Mountain Status Page for more information.

We hope you’ll join us!
